He was made to do it.                    English Language Tips 2: Write `law-and-order situation`, NOT `law and order situation`, When you write simply `law land order`, there is no need for using hyphen, as there is no need to make it a compound word. In the first instance, law-and-order is made into a compound word to create an adjective to qulify the noun situation. In the second, the phrase law and order is not followed by any such NP and so you need not use such hyphenated compound as adjective.                    English Language Tips 1: Write `adviser to the prime minister`, NOT `adviser of the prime minister`.                    Write `adviser of the government`, NOT `adviser to the government`.

Khaleda to visit troubled Nganj May 14 despite rally ban

Opposition BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will go to Narayanganj on May 14 to sympathize with the families of the city’s slain panel mayor Nazrul Islam and six others who were all abducted, tortured to death and dumped into a river.

The BNP chief had planned to hold a rally in the city to express her solidarity with the people in the Narayanganj but she had to change the programme as the mayor and district administration both denied her permission, party sources said.

Narayanganj district administration Thursday declined to give BNP permission to hold the rally in the city on May 14, saying police will not be able to provide security of the gathering as they are busy investigating seven murders.

On Wednesday night, Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy regretted that she was unable to give permission in view of the prevailing law-and-order situation.
