Better medical services stressed for treatment of addicts

Better medical services are required for drug-addiction treatment and rehabilitation of the addicts. There is no alternative except capacity building of professionals engaged in healing drug-addiction malaise.
Such suggestion came from Amir Hossain, Additional Director-General of the Department of Narcotics Control, at a ten-day national-level skill training of such professionals on universal treatment curriculum on drug- addiction treatment and rehabilitation centers. Organized by Dhaka Ahsania Mission and the Department of Narcotics Control and supported by GIZ, the function began in the mission’s conference room on 26 May.
Speakers further said this training is “essential” for providing modern treatment facilities to patients at drug-addiction treatment and rehabilitation centers all over the country.
Department of Narcotics Control Treatment & Rehabilitation Director Nazmul Ahsan Mojumdar presided over the function. Chief guest was Additional Director-General of the Department of Narcotics Control Anne Doose. Performance and Communication Manager of GIZ was present as special guest. Chief Consultant Dr. Emam Uzzaman of Central Drug Treatment Center of the Department of Narcotics Control and Residential Psychiatrist Dr. Aktaruzzaman Salim spoke on the occasion. Dhaka Ahsania Mission Deputy Director Iqbal Masud delivered the welcome address.
