He was made to do it.                    English Language Tips 2: Write `law-and-order situation`, NOT `law and order situation`, When you write simply `law land order`, there is no need for using hyphen, as there is no need to make it a compound word. In the first instance, law-and-order is made into a compound word to create an adjective to qulify the noun situation. In the second, the phrase law and order is not followed by any such NP and so you need not use such hyphenated compound as adjective.                    English Language Tips 1: Write `adviser to the prime minister`, NOT `adviser of the prime minister`.                    Write `adviser of the government`, NOT `adviser to the government`.

Leadership change in BCL: Sohag President, Jakir GS

Sohag became president and Jakir general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of the ruling Awami League, in a leadership change by ballot.

The result of the daylong voting was announced on Sunday night during the second session of the Awami League student front’s 28th National Convention at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in Dhaka.

After inaugurating the convention on Saturday, ruling party President Sheikh Hasina suggested the formation of the new leadership through election.

A total of 2,819 among 3,138 councillors from the BCL’s 110 district-level units cast their votes to elect the central leadership for the next two years.

Sohag bagged 2,690 votes while Jakir secured 2,676 votes.

Sunday’s polls only elected the president and the general secretary. Chhatra League leaders said the full committee would be announced later.

Forty candidates had battled it out in the balloting.

Twelve of them contended for the president’s post while 28 had vied for the general secretary’s position.
